I keep hearing…

…nothing is made in the US anymore.  I decided to start searching the web for companies that still manufacture and or sell products still made in the United States.  I was pleasantly surprised to find numerous companies that still manufacture goods in the US.  I am going to list them here, and will list more as I continue to stumble upon them.  Feel free to let me know of a company that you are familiar with that still manufacturers all of their products in the USA, thanks!

Not all of New Balance’s shoes are Made in the USA but they are trying their best to produce a fair amount of product here in the US, check out the video.

4th of July

Just wanted to remind everyone to remember to buy American this year for your 4th of July flags and decorations.  I have several companies listed that sell American Flags that are made in the USA, you can see them by clicking here.  Todd over at MadeInUSAForever.com has found handcrafted USA flag pins that are made in the USA, this is truly a rare find, thanks Todd!  He also has POW, US Marine Corps, American Vets, and Don’t Tread on Me pins all made in the USA.

I found this company at the 2009 Los Angeles Boat Show where they were displaying and selling their beautiful Hawaiian Shirts, and other Hawaiian inspired apparel.  My mother and myself stopped to take a look at their gorgeous, colorful shirts and I was so pleased to find out that they are all manufactured in Fountain Valley, CA.   I was inspired to purchase the cutest little Hawaiian print dress for a friend that recently had a baby girl.  I was told that their caps and t-shirts are manufactured offshore, so please check with them first on those items.

While searching for a new camera bag that I could fit my SLR, lens, batteries, memory cards etc, along with my wallet, cell phone, makeup & sunglasses, etc, etc…I came across this company in Illinois that has very hip, trendy bags for women, and the exact type of bag I was looking for.  The big bonus is all their bags are proudly Made In The USA!

UPDATE:  Received my Tracy Joy bag and I absolutley love it!  I can fit my camera and all my stuff, wallet, cell phone, sunglasses, sunscreen etc. in this one bag.  I love the padded interior, helps keep my camera safe and secure, thanks Tracy Joy!  Here is a pic of my bag below…it is the Kristine bag with the “Mod Earth” fabric.

The Story of Stuff

I came across this website on an amazon.com thread regarding purchasing USA made goods. Very interesting and captivating video by Annie Leonard on where all of our “stuff” or “crap,” as I like to call it, comes from. This is a great time of year to step back and take a look at all the crap you and your family already have and ask yourself, “do we really need anymore crap,” my guess would be, probably not.   I do understand that part of the fun of Christmas and Hanukkah is gift giving, so if you must purchase this holiday season, please take a look around my blog and purchase from any of the fine companies I have listed that still manufacture and help keep jobs in the USA.

Where does our food come from?

If you are concerned about what country your food comes from the FDA is making it a little easier for us to find out.  As of September 30, 2008 companies have been required to provide Country of Origin or COOL labels on raw beef, veal, lamb, pork, chicken, goat, as well as fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables, some nuts, fish and seafood products. High Point Market Fall 2008: ‘Made in USA’ selling well

It seems Made in the USA is catching on according to this article from the trade publication Furniture Today.

“Retailers tell us that a growing number of consumers are coming into their stores and asking for furniture that is made in the USA,” said  Becki Gould, director of marketing for Saloom.
